1) build computer with head
2) set it up to start a vnc server on startup so you can control it's screen from another computer, in case you want to do something on it without getting another screen out.
3) start it folding
4) decapitate

Do you think Apple will get into music producing any time soon?
I think it would be brilliant. First, they could get all their up and coming stars that they research through iTunes that are on lesser labels, then they can market, produce, and sell their songs through iTunes.
ALSO, they wouldn't have to worry about raising the price of the downloads because its their creation. I think other record labels would be forced to keep the current prices (especially when/if apple got a number of good/decent/popular names)
Just a thought.

I don't think thats an iMac. If I compare mine to that one, I see the chin is smaller on that, and the the screen is too close to the bottom of the "rectangle part".

It sounds okay to me. The only problem I had with Macromedia is that Archive and Install upgrades still didn't allow MX Studio 2004 to work but Macromedia has since provided a kick start application to fix that.

A more interesting question is: Has anyone received an email from teh Steve?
Yes, more than one. :D
I suspect, a couple were from underlings who signed his name. That happens all the time in big business/government. The individual themselves simply do not have the time to sort through every message.
However, if it is a certain type of message/content, then it will get elevated to the actual person.
But a couple, were from him. No doubt. One related to the Newton and one related to another issue.
...and no, I will not share the address that I used to contact him. Sorry.

i wonder if a single processor machine that repeatedly requests core82 and never gets it just hangs forever?
that would suck for the whole project
The weird thing is that I have never seen a core82 before on any of my machines. I wonder if this is an x86-only core, and the Folding WU server isn't picking up the fact that a Mac has requested the work? Anyway, I hope I don't get another one.

That easy? I thought I would be something more complicated...thanks for the help!
nope. headless computers are literally that- normal computers that have been beheaded. the only issue to overcome is how to manage it without a screen to look at (or presumably a keyboard or mouse to input with), and vnc does a great job of that.

So what are they charging more for? a HDMI port? I think they are avoiding putting a HD DVD drive in the unit based on the abysmal outlook for HD DVD's future. No wifi, both the competition boxes have wifi built in...
120GB proprietary HD, why not just make it user replacebable like Sony did....
MS is gonna piss off a lot of their current base with this.
Ed
I wish they'd put the HD DVD drive into the system as well...the official reason why they won't is that they don't want developers to rely on having the extra space. It would segment the games into regular and HDDVD only.
I don't think HDDVD is obviously going to die. It seems to like it competes well with BluRay, has more units on the market, and at least HDDVD jewel cases fit into my existing DVD racks. BluRay is, inexplicably, shipping their discs in jewel cases that are shorter, wider, and thinner. WTF?

I think they will stick around for a while longer. If they are getting discontinued they would get replaced with something even slicker so have no worries. :)

What do you think?
Unfortunately, this is where most companies are taking their business these days. Though I wish Apple weren't a part of it, I also realize they would probably wither if they weren't.

I would love to work at an Apple store, but the fact that you can not visit or post on Mac forums like this makes me a little turned off because Mac forums are what make my day. :p I can understand why it is against policy though. I guess it'd be cool to know when new products are being shipped in and stuff.
Steve Jobs isn't looking over your shoulder every minute, and Apple doesn't tap your computer's IP address to see where you're going. Don't identify yourself as an employee or announce to your store manager that you post on the forums...and you'll be fine.

Apple sure is suing a lot these days. Is there a connection? Probably but it is truly justified.
Somebody posted without reading the thread... ;)

July 2003 perhaps...one really has to consider what processor or speeds will the next PM sport.
High End 1.25 GHZ 19"
Middle 1.25 GHZ 17"
Low 1.00 GHZ 15"
all with 167Mhz Bus and the x-serve DDR hack would be sweet for July.
