i think the iMac really needs a speed boost it is almost a year old and it is still 800MHz I think the 17in was a way to get more time to boost the speed.

How can costco afford to cover game systems for life? Wouldn't something like 10-20% of the people who buy 360s come back with a dead console? Seems a little too good to be true, i looked on their website, and their return policy seems very ambiguous, nothing about a lifetime return policy.
On a side note, i know where i am buying my 360 now...
it's a lifetime guarantee because it's ambiguous. they guarantee complete satisfaction over the lifetime of the product except for the ones they explicitly say otherwise. i've seen people return years-old vacuum cleaners and cameras. one member around these forums even saw someone return a partially eaten cake (!). i recently returned a six month old nintendo ds. so believe me, the return policy is good. it does seem too good to be true, i admit, but their policy is slowly changing. up until just a couple weeks ago, all their products were blanketed under the lifetime policy with the exception computers, which were covered by a six month policy. then they changed the policy to 90 days on computers, tvs, mp3 players and the like. they still haven't changed the policy on game systems, but they might in the future. so if one is to buy an xbox 360 now, one can do so comfortably from costco. if anything ever went wrong, you could simply return it. the customer service people are also very understanding and very helpful. if you bought a 360 and returned it because it broke down on you, they'd take it back--no questions asked.
if one is to buy an xbox 360, i give this advice. when you buy it, keep your receipt, box, manuals, cables, etc. keep everything. it makes for the easiest return possible.

It's weird how we think that the iBook and the TiBook are the coolest, best designed Apple products ever, but then they come out with something better... It's so good (of course, the iBook could use some improvements...)

Well obviously I'm thinking future revision here :) Would be a bit hard to implement it in the current design, probably.
It would be a "nice to have" option. Not everyone would need or want one, but I wouldn't mind having one. Monitor, power, keyboard (with mouse attached), speakers, line-in, USB card readers, Firewire drives etc etc... They start adding up and it would be NICE to avoid handling all the plugs twice a day.
I guess we'll see (january? hoping for too much? :D)
out of interest - have ANY of Apple's previous notebook computers ever featured a docking station?

Ok... So maybe IBM isn't interested in putting Altivec instructions in their PowerPCs.
But tell me, what would stop Motorola or another Altivec licensee from creating a co-processor that handles Altivec instructions?
Could we be looking at IBM G5s with a Motorola (or other party) Altivec unit?

There have been a number of rumors concerning ibook updates in the past few weeks.
I was wondering what people thought might be in the next update...G3 or G4? When will it happen?
It has been said that the G3 has a lot of life left...you have to wonder if that means that the present model of the ibook will be around for a while, or that the next one or two updates will include a faster G3. Does the ibook really need a G4 yet?
Here's what I think...If the form factor is updated to include a new 13" panel then they might drop in a G4 (you never know). It would be the time to do it and we are looking at January for the update. If the present form factor sticks around then they'll probably bump the processor to 800 or 900 MHZ (Depends on the next Powerbook upgrade) and a 32 MB video card. Maybe these specs some time in the next 2 months.

I don't know what's up with the hard drive. I just find it ridiculous that you need to use Microsoft's hard drive for X-Box Live downloads. Microsoft could be cool and just get rid of the proprietary hard drive, do a firmware update, and let everybody use any kind of USB Mass Storage device. Even if they add higher capacity hard drives to the line up, you know Microsoft will rip you off as far as how much they charge you.
You and me can keep dreaming :o
I bought a 400gb Sata2 drive for 90. 20gb (or is it 30?) for 70 is ****ing ridiculous. 60 for a USB WiFi dongle is ****ing ridiculous.
I wonder if MRU would defend the price of it now? I remember he was quick to defend MS months ago on this issue, but drive prices drop every other day. Microsoft's prices do not.

On the orange ad? Either I'm blind or it says nothing.
You're right it doesn't say Macbook Pro on it but I also have the ad and the pictures inside and on the back are of Macbook Pros. I was shocked to open up Bradley's school newspaper and find one of these adds sitting in it. It was in every newspaper printed and I've also seen adds posted in the hallways of the dorms.

I think when he says Menu Bug he's referring to a problem when trying to use certain sites that have drop down menus in their navigation.
You roll over the navigation on a site, the menu pops down, you move your mouse to the drop down and it disappears. And back to Safari I go.
I'd really like to switch over to Firefox. The other thing I"m looking for is inline-spell checking like Safari.
ugh, the principal reason i use safari now. its just a pain to hit return while mousing over an item...

Probably because from their experience, most people who do claim they don't have a TV are found to have had one after investigation so odds are... they're lying.
On the other hand, I honestly don't have one and have no problem letting anyone from TV Licensing into the flat to confirm the situation. Don't miss having one at all.
I think the broader issue here is that television is simply a product like any other, regardless of its popularity. To be in a situation where you have to suffer an invasion of privacy just to prove that you don't want to buy a product is, quite frankly, bollocks.

Sounds like your not using X.2 or a New Mac.
Why do you waste your time on here?
Again, find a better deal than the New dual 867 on the Pc side, I'll buy it.

I am puzzled by the news that Steve Jobs chose the Apple logo because he liked the Beatles and their philosophy (as widely reported today in European press). [...]I think the Apple is really taken from the Apple that, according to legend, fell from the three and inspired Newton to come up with the laws of gravity.
Just look at the original Apple logo, the apple has a prominent position even there:

Im in dire need of a 19inch display!
One with dual inputs would be awesome.
Ive been looking at the Dell 2000FP Flat Panel lately.
Its suppose to have DVI, RGB and SVHS would be awesome for
my G4 (DVI>ADC converter), Dell (RGB) and XBox (SVHS)!
The only problem with the Dell one is that no one at Dell knows if it has input switches on the front panel:P
So Apple, if you have anything close to that, I will buy:O)
Also has anyone used Gefen products before?
Im looking at their DVI>ADC stuff.
