Do you use your work computer to Fold? Yes
If so, did you get approval to do so? No
But considering that the company I work for only has 3 employees, I'm certain that the boss wouldn't care
my answer word for word.

Haha... I make that mistake occasionally.
Solid blank shirts = employee in my mind. That's right! I remember selling you two 30" Cinema Displays when you mistook me for an Apple employee. You believed me about the 100% rebate offer after 30 days, but it was too late by then! :D
My Apple-looking T-shirt also let me sneak into the employee-only area, where I saw how they sit around watching the feeds from the iSights in the customer area and laughing as people make funny faces into the lenses. ;)

Wow, so that's how the other half lives....
We only get about 5% of our files as PDF. We accept any file you got, and I mean ANYTHING. Word, Excel:eek:, Publisher, Powerpoint:eek:, Wordperfect:eek:. Heck, we had a client send us a Broderbund Print Shop Deluxe file once   (OK, we re-created that one  ).
I wouldn't ever look to upgrade an application unless I needed a specific feature, personally. But some designer somewhere is going to buy CS2, and they are going to expect that their printer is somehow expert with an application the day it is released. We have 20 Macs and 4 PCs in our prep department and 10 operators to train, so every new release is a couple of grand down the hole. No wonder the company Pres. call us SS PrePress.
Yeah, I've talked to some of the printers and asked if they wanted files in any other format, most of the time they tell me "it's too much of a hassle."
If someone sends them a compressed file with all the fonts, images, etc. and there is a problem, the printer can either fix it themselves or have the designer do it. Based on what I've heard, most of the time the designer is someone just out of community college design school and thinks "overprint" is when the paper is wet after ink touches it.
If there is a problem with my PDF file, it's easy for them to correct, if not they call me and I submit a new one. Simple as that.
If I managed a pre-press department, I would probably be in jail. I give you props, man -- that's a tough job!

That's funny, but now that I hear it, doesn't really surprise me.
I'm not really sure I understand this whole UMPC concept. It's not a Pocket PC or a laptop. To me it just seems to take the worst of each. Not as capable as a laptop: no keyboard. Not as portable as a Pocket PC. What exactly are you supposed to use this for? What niche is it trying to fill? Seems to me, unless I can actually put it in my pocket (ie. don't have to carry a bag) then I might as well cary a fully-capable, lightweight notebook.
It's basically a solution in search of a problem, and the problem now (at least for the marketers) is how to separate your money from your wallet before you catch on to the fact that you really don't need it in the first place.
Maybe it's an oversized Palm, or maybe it's a crippled laptop, or, as the author of the article above politely surmises, maybe it's just "too revolutionary." lol

The PDA is no more, you can fit all the good things about them in an iPod. Apple brought out the first PDA and the next thing they bring out is going to be another first......

Dont know if everyone has seen this yet, but apparently even though its a PC the designers have an Apple background. http://www.oqo.com/
an adaption of this makes more sense than a pda to me.

Anyway, I don't think vBulletin would support access based on registration date. If it can't support more then one private forum then I dobut if it could support rules like post count and registration date.

It now looks as if there wont be a superdrive model, so apple will have to make up for it with other features.

I started Looking In December of 2001 on my PowerBook G4. At the time I was looking into rumors about the "new" iMac... After the Unveiling I joined to help people (With my 10+ years of Computer Repair expertise)[Not bad for someone who's just about to turn 20], and to make comments on Ideas, and laughably funny rumors.

Well there's one dramatic difference:
64 - bit only OS X 10.3.... so no more Mac OS 9 boot (just Classic mode).
32 - bit should still be able to boot OS 9

The TiBook is due an overhaul sometime next month I would have thought...... although I know exactly what you mean about revisions just after buying... it's happened to me with a beige G3....... :(
the best time to buy is exactly after a revision is released, then you pretty much know you'll be safe for 6 months...... :)

We will all have to wait a year for it, but it should be worth the wait.
IBM looks like its going for the jugular on ol' Intel/M$--Mac and Linux OS's running on their new chips. Cool.
The blurb about the G5 by Motorola was also encouraging.
This is all good news for me--someone who is not planning an upgrade for a year. I'm sure it is an agonizing wait for people buying Mac towers now, knowing the foundations of the technology are going to change dramatically in the next 12 months or so.
I wonder how this stuff slipped past Apple Legal. I mean, unveiling the next chip when you can't sell the current towers has got to sting a bit. Doesn't help when benchmarks put the 1.25 ghz in a dead heat with the old 1 ghz machine in many respects.
The best news is that Apple is no longer technologically hamstrung by Moto for their top-end hardware. IBM is just the kick-in-the-pants Moto needs to get crackin' on faster chips.

Yes, there was a floor pad for the NES. I cannot remember the name though... and there were only about 2-3 games for it.
I'd love to have a Lynx.. now THERE'S a blast from the past.
I still have my 2600, all the games, and all the boxes (w/manuals, too.)
maybe we could come to an agreement ive got a lynx

Why not do this;
"iPic" specs;
iPod case, 5 gig hd, FW connection via a "pop" out male FW connector, 4 megapixels, large lcd viewer, lcd view finder, bounce flash, ASA 100 to 400, 28mm to 80mm zoom and Lithium batteries.
Same specs as above, but with a "iBook" type of case.
Add Bluetooth (I know it is slower, but hey no connections). The FW would pop out and you could "dock" the camera with the laptop. Note for towers and iMac's there would be a patch cable.
The case would match the two laptops Apple puts out now, plus this would double as a portable drive for the laptops.
Cost 350$ to 450$
Anyways, it makes sense for Apple to have a consumer level camera, to complete the digital hub. Also make them for pc's right away and rake in the money :]
My Opinion anyways, thanks!

My girlfriend had to buy a TV license even though she only used her TV for games consoles.
The laws are strange.
I don't know whether that 2003 law mentioned above changed it, but I lived in a flat in about 1999-2001 or so, and we had a TV that we just used for the odd video and SNES play, and when we told the TV licensing people that, they stopped bothering us. As long as we didn't have an aerial plugged in, they were happy.
In other words, it may be worth your girlfriend having a word with them, as she may get it free. That is unless it's changed since I was in the same situation. :)

thats true the 4gig memory card will be relativly expensive but im sure they will adapt this technology to music/vedio storage devices [i dont know if theirs a technacal name for it]
