Heh.
Where'd ya get the Xeons? They sound like some nice beasts.
I'd love to have the Dual Processor one for my video crunching/gaming machine.

they would have had to announce it already, i think... i think the notice would be too short unless the announcement comes today or tomorrow..

a bit off topic but why are there appz that can transfer songs from the iPod to the computer when you can do it yourself by just putting them in your own custom folder?

well, they say to make your aac files bookmarkable, but then don't explain "how" to do that. I'd like to know, if anyone can give me a quick pointer.

Thanks! Very cool widget. Now all I need is a folding farm, or at least a computer that will fold faster. My 1.33GHz PB (not running 24/7, more like 18/5) and 800MHz iMac aren't exactly tearing through the WU's.

People quitting early is annoying. Turning on your mic and letting others know is an easy way to avoid getting bad rep. All one has to do is tell the others that he/she has to go and no one will mind. 75% of people do this on GoW, but the other 25% just quit on you, and it's especially annoying when it's the host.
Microsoft needs to figure out a system that can tell when someone quits, versus when they are dc'd/have a dirty disc/power goes out/etc. They then need to implement a 'deserter' type system like in WoW. In WoW you cannot join PvP again for 10 minutes if you quit during PvP. This way anyone who quits has to wait 10 minutes before they can get back in an Xbox Live game/match.
I know it is annoying. But, in the games I normally play( PGR3, BS: Midway) a lot more people lag out then quit early because they are losing. When I leave I do say I'm leaving. Problem is in Midway the game separates the channels into the two different teams. So I say bye to my team and the other thinks I left early.
PS: It is double annoying when the hosts kicks you because you kick there butt.

As i recall the GUI version only uses 1 CPU. Go into activity monitor and check to see if both are running full tilt. Also if you ever log out then it will not be running when you use the GUI version.
No, its only using ~100% of the one cpu. Should I just wait for my current w.u. to finish and then install the dual processor version of folding@home?

Here's the Gospel Truth
(Note: I have family that works for Nortel, and several friends at Microsoft)
The "NT" in Windows NT stands for New Technology. Many of the new technologies developed that it supported were in the area of processors and networking. Untill Win 98, NT was the only version of Windows to be able to use Pentium Pro Processors, and NT 4 was the only Windows version for Solaris, PPC, Alpha and other high-end processors, not just the crappy x86 processors.
The reason that "NT" is connected to Nortel, is that NT is the ticker symbol of Nortel, and at one time NT was the logo for Nortel. Because of this, Nortel had copyrighted the "NT" so when Microsoft wanted to use it, they has to put a disclamer on the box saying that "NT" is a registed trademark of Northern Telecom.
Thats the truth.... and I'm stickin' to it.

I'll remain skeptical until I see one but....
black skin, HDMI and a 120gb HDD.... meh.
HDMI ? I dont need it on my 360's and it wont offer any visual improvement over VGA. Other's may find it handy, me.... meh.
120gb HD ? What on earth are people storing ? With very little movie / video content for Europe and the ease of streaming music or ipods plugging into your 360 - I really dont need that much unused storage in my 360.
Maybe it's for IPTV ? But I doubt I'll be seeing that in Ireland this year and especially given our relativly slow BB speeds.
Integrated Wifi should really have been there - but just as Sony drop the 20gb machine - so they have 1 SKU - Microsoft preps for 3 ? madness.

Based on the database-driven backend, and reading through the online manual, I doubt there is a limit on the number of levels he can define.
So we'll just have to wait and see. :)
Intresting... so couldn't we have custom titles or something?
Or more titles...
I figured here would be the most appropriate thread to post my 2,000th post. :)
And there was much rejoicing. *Yaaaaay...*
Congratulations. :)

Sometimes I wonder if apple does any useability testing with their products at all--the hockey puck mouse that came with the original imac was the most horrendous thing every made! how does apple expect people to hold that tiny little puck for hours and not get irritated by it?

About this IBM/SIMD talk.
I find it highly ironic that IBM is now seeing the benefits of having a SIMD processing unit on their PPC chips. When Moto first introduced Altivec, IBM declined to use it. They steadfastly resisted introducing it in their own chips. Apple, saw it's benefits and went along with Moto's plans.
That decision probably cost IBM a lot of sales with Apple.
I guess IBM is now back in the SIMD game because of Apple's business.
Just ironic, I guess.

I'm calling early October around the same time they revved last year. If they aren't revved by late december, we may as well expect an entirely new iBook or iBook replacement product line. I doubt that tho. The IceBook is one of the most successful Apple products ever, and is one of the main switch products.

I think Microsoft is trying to pull the same stunt as they always have done, e.g. with Netscape vs IE, Real (or QuickTime) vs VMP, etc. Now they try to squeeze Google and very soon every anti virus and other anti malware company out there. Always by including their own version and trust the wast majority of sheep...æh...users to just start using their software and not even be bothered to look for (better) alternatives... A true monopoly in action...

I'm aware of it's purpose as a form of punctuation within the english language, but what are you trying to infer by putting after those two quotes? They're not exactly definitive comments that simply require a period to reenforce them, if that was your intention.
Oh, I thought you were having a pun battle with me. You know... "point".
I was just showing that whathisface's comment was redundant after someguy had already said he recieved an email from steve. The 'point 'was to push my post to the '1 character' minimum.
Yes, now in retrospect I just look like a tool.

Channel levels are NOT very high;
Retailers have been told to "sell through" their current models of iBook & PowerBook already. This update should be relatively soon if Apple hopes to have them in all retailers before Thanksgiving weekend. I think its very possible

if macosrumors.com is right about apple starting a new milling process for the titanium that will stop paint chips and scratches, and might even allow for lazer engraving, then it seems that strategically, from a production stand point, this would be the most opportune time to remodel if the type of production is changing anyway. It also makes sense that apple is making an extra push (added educational discounts which aren't typical for a regular speed bump) if they are remodeling the TiBook so that they can flush out stores of the old frame which would otherwise still be useful if only a speed bump was in store.

I don't think an MMO is for you.
He'd do fine. I do the same thing due to lack of time between life, college, and the Air Force. If I can do it, anyone can. ;)

Perhaps.
I finally found out what was preventing me from upgrading to Dapper Drake, and I am very impressed with Dapper Drake. The GUI for GNOME is absolutely beautiful. It almost makes me want to buy a cheap windows laptop just to run it.
I know if I get an Intel mac I'm definetly going to put Ubuntu on it.
